    Pretty awesome platform

I gotta say, this platform is pretty awesome. It's super easy to use, and I never have to worry about session links disappearing or anything like that. Whenever there's an issue, they respond quickly and fix it. Honestly, if they offered referrals, I'd probably ditch all the other platforms and stick with this one. But since they don't, I still gotta use another platform to get new clients. So, until they start offering referrals, I can't make them my main platform.

    Using Headway for billing with

Using Headway for billing with BCBS has become quite a hassle for me as a therapist. Initially, it was simple, but now it's overly restrictive. I have my own scheduling system, yet Headway insists on using theirs, which just complicates things for both me and my clients. Their customer service is limited to a bot or email, making billing issues hard to resolve. Plus, they have strange rules about clients seeing multiple therapists if they're using the same email. They've even introduced a long form for billing and push us to use their notes system. Clients often complain about these changes, and I've lost some because of billing mix-ups or account setup issues. Therapists should manage their practices without such interference. Headway should just handle billing and not meddle with how I run my practice. Considering dropping them soon.

    I had a pretty rough

I had a pretty rough time with Headway. They promised a referral bonus, and I followed all the steps, but they just didn’t pay up. When I asked about it, they hit me with some generic response. I've brought them a lot of business, and yet they couldn't come through for just $200. Another issue is their co-pay estimates. They often tell you there’s no co-pay, and then, out of the blue, months later, they say you owe $150 or more. It’s frustrating because you think everything’s settled, and then suddenly it’s not. Their support team doesn’t help much either—they’re slow and often clueless. Overall, it's just not worth the hassle. Look elsewhere for better service.

    Browsing the site to find

Browsing the site to find a therapist was simple enough, but then they hit you with the card requirement right before booking. It's frustrating because I wanted to pay before each session, you know, on my own terms. I've had not-so-great experiences before with companies holding onto my card info, so this felt sketchy. I bit the bullet and added my card, but surprise, surprise, the billing got messed up. I had to reach out to my therapist to fix it, and thankfully, she was super helpful and sorted it out quickly. Still, I’m hesitant to return until they figure out a smoother payment process. It's just not worth the hassle for me right now.

I had a pretty frustrating experience with Headway. They initially told my client they accepted Magellan insurance, so we started sessions. But then, out of the blue, they said they don't take it. This caused a lot of confusion and stress since I had to stop care right after the first session. When we tried to get some help from Headway to sort this mess out, we were met with zero support. It feels like such a disorganized system, and it really affected the client’s care. Super disappointing.

I have a client who’s been stuck in this credentialing limbo since September. It's weird because it says she’s approved to be seen, but only if she lives in Georgia. The thing is, she does live in Georgia; her address even proves it. Trying to sort this out has been a nightmare since there’s no one I can actually talk to about it. It’s making it really hard for me to see my client when she needs help. The whole situation is just frustrating and honestly, it shouldn't be this complicated.

The company seems alright, but what bothers me is that I can't leave reviews for therapists or providers. I had a bad experience with a therapist through Headway. It was really bad - unethical and made me feel awful. It's not right that they let therapists like that work on their site without any way for clients to warn others.

    Suspicious Billing / Time Suck

I’ve had multiple frustrating and concerning experiences with Headway’s billing system, and I no longer trust them with my payment information. I have a $0 co-pay for all therapy sessions. A couple of months into using Headway, they said that my insurance plan coverage had changed and that they would now be charging me a $10 co-pay for each visit. I called my insurance and they said there had been no change in my plan or coverage and that therapy still had a $0 co-pay. This lead to a whole back and forth with Headway to get them to reimburse me and stop charging. How did they come up with my plan changing? How long were they going to charge me $10 per apt if I hadn't gone back and forth with them about it? How many other people have they done this with who didn't have the time or energy to go back and forth with them? Most recently, they ran a series of unauthorized $1 test charges on my card without notifying me or logging them in my billing history. This included a $1 charge, an immediate refund, and then another $1 charge, all unannounced. My credit card flagged the activity as suspicious and advised me to block the merchant because this is a common strategy scammers often use before making larger charges. After that, Headway removed my valid payment method and is now requiring me to add a new one, even though I have a $0 copay and a clean payment history with them, in order to see my provider tomorrow. They never notified me or listed the "test charges" in my billing history.... Between the lack of transparency, unauthorized test charges, and previous overbilling, I don’t feel they’re responsible enough to handle patient billing. If you're a provider thinking about using Headway, or a patient whose provider works through them, be prepared for billing issues, poor communication, and unnecessary stress. All of the back and forth and phone calls over these issues has created a completely unnecessary time suck and I don't expect that to change any time soon.

    I strongly discourage considering this

I strongly discourage considering this company. Steer clear. As a client of a healthcare professional newly enrolled with Headway, my experience has been far from satisfactory. The insistence on having a credit card on file, despite my insurance covering the full amount, was a major inconvenience. Despite assurances that I would only be charged for last-minute cancellations or missed appointments, my credit card was billed over $100, contradicting their own confirmation that I owed nothing. Attempts to rectify the situation through emails were met with disregard. The provider affirmed that I did not owe anything, yet Headway showed no interest in addressing the erroneous charge. Immediate action on my part involved disputing the charge with my credit card company. Their response to my email only assured me of a $0 charge for future appointments, a statement I find hard to trust given their recent mishandling of billing. It appears that their modus operandi involves overcharging customers, potentially capitalizing on interest, and leaving clients to endure a protracted refund process. Adding insult to injury, they lure in new providers with a $250 incentive, contributing to the perception of a dubious scheme. My advice is to run away from this unscrupulous company and refrain from divulging any payment information. It's a shame they operate in such a manner.

Using Headway has been a nightmare. I signed up, entered my insurance details (Insurance A), and started sessions once they confirmed I was in-network. After switching to Insurance B, Headway kept messing up my insurance info. They’d wait until the day of my session to say they couldn't confirm my insurance. Then, at the end of 2024, I got a notice saying my first session was denied because it was submitted under Insurance B, which wasn’t even active back then. I flagged this and found out they’d been submitting all my sessions wrong and overcharging me. While fixing it, they made another mistake and assigned the wrong insurance again. Sent them proof and got promised a refund. Weeks passed, no refund. When I followed up, I was bounced between reps who didn’t get my case. Then they gaslighted me, saying Headway is out-of-network with my plan. Turns out, they contacted the wrong insurance, never submitted my claim, and my actual insurance would've covered it. Their incompetence and deceptive practices caused me so much stress and financial strain. If you’re thinking about using Headway, just don’t.

    Let me tell you about

Let me tell you about my recent ordeal with this company. Imagine waking up to find out you’ve got appointments you never booked, and then being slapped with a $75 fee for canceling them. It's like they're running a sneaky little scam. Their customer service? Don't get me started. You first deal with an AI chatbot that’s about as helpful as a brick wall. If you’re lucky, you might get to chat with a "live" agent, but they aren't much better. And good luck trying to cancel your account. You have to go through this agent, and there's no phone number to call. It's like they don't want you to leave. Oh, and once your payment info is in their system, it's like they own your credit card. Honestly, this whole experience makes me want to contact a lawyer about a class action lawsuit. Avoid them if you can.

    It feels like a scam

I've been dealing with Headway for a while now, since my partner's therapist uses them for billing. Therapy sessions were smooth sailing, paying our usual co-pay without a hitch. But recently, things went south. We began receiving bills for the entire session cost, not just the co-pay. Checked with our insurance; nothing changed, and the therapist remains in-network. Trying to resolve this was frustrating—no phone number, only their online ticket system. We submitted a ticket, and they eventually acknowledged the co-pay error but offered no refund. Weeks later, more full-price bills appeared for three sessions. Another ticket opened, they're "investigating," but my hopes are low. We're owed around $700 and considering a bank chargeback. Honestly, steer clear of Headway; it feels like a scam.

Back in 2023, I nearly signed up with Headway, but luckily didn't. Fast forward to 2026, and out of the blue, I get an email saying I have a client through them. Strange, right? I tried reaching out, but surprise—no contact number. I remember talking to them back in 2023, so where'd the phones go? Checked their site as a patient and, shockingly, found my PsychologyToday profile hijacked by them. My info, my profile, redirected to their company. Turns out, they've been accessing my CAQH account for two years! They've been advertising me as their provider without permission, redirecting potential clients elsewhere. All I could do was chat or send a ticket—no real way to talk to someone. Be careful if you're dealing with them; it's all smoke and mirrors. They're not helping anyone but themselves.

    I used Headway to find

I used Headway to find mental health support, but it was a rough ride. It’s got some troubling issues that make me wonder if it’s worth it. Confidentiality seems like a distant concept there. I've heard they peek into private therapy notes and appointment reasons, all without asking. They even use AI to sift through sensitive stuff for their own purposes. Transparency is missing—providers don’t know how their notes are used. Some even faced retaliation for speaking up, like getting locked out or having their professional reputation hurt. They’ve reportedly snooped into financial info without consent, which is just unsettling. They promise support and compliance, but the reality feels off. For anyone considering this platform, think twice about how it handles privacy and data.

    I ended up with more

I ended up with more stress than I had to begin with, and added anxiety to that. I tried this platform and Talkspace (which was even worse) because my insurance recommended them in their program. Unfortunately, these platforms are full of so-called half-professional providers with barely any experience who never respond nor show up. To make matters worse, you cannot cancel when they don't show after 30 minutes, or they will charge you $75 for that. Now, I have to take time out of my busy day to schedule sessions that never happened, and I need to see a real professional to vent about this platform and its poor service. I do not recommend it; it seems like they prioritize the provider and not the client. It's best to go to a real professional in person. Lesson learned.

I tried using Klarity and Headway to book an appointment with Dr. Tobiloba Adewolu, and honestly, it was just a mess. First, they made me enter my credit card details twice, which felt sketchy. Then, my appointment got pushed from 3pm to 4:15pm without much notice. The call itself was disappointing; he barely asked about my symptoms, focusing more on questions about suicidal thoughts and my middle school years, which didn't feel relevant to my current focus issues. When he suggested I needed blood work and another appointment, it felt like a money grab. I was charged $235 for a session that lasted only 30 minutes, not the promised 45. The whole experience was cold and impersonal, and I left feeling like just another number. Definitely not worth the time or money.

I really enjoy working with my therapist; she's genuinely amazing. But the hassle with Headway has been exhausting. Since December, it’s been a constant battle over charges—sometimes they're inconsistent, sometimes they're just plain wrong. And the response? Slow and unhelpful. Every time I explained the issue, I got shuffled around to different representatives, none of whom seemed able to actually resolve anything. I've shown proof, talked with my insurance, and was even promised a refund for overcharges, but after three weeks, nothing. Insurance tried reaching out, but apparently, there's no direct line to their finance team. It's frustrating and expensive with little accountability or problem solving. I really can't recommend them after all this mess.

I gotta say, the psychiatrist we met was amazing—really connected with her. But, the rest was a nightmare. After working a night shift, I found an email about an appointment for my daughter that I never scheduled. I rescheduled it to a more convenient time, only to be slapped with a $75 cancellation fee. Tried contacting Headway through their online chat (there's no phone number, which is frustrating), and they were zero help, even a bit rude. They said the only way to maybe get a refund was to reach out to the provider myself. They admitted I didn't make the appointment, but stuck to their policy like glue. Honestly, feels like robbery. I began therapy through Headway

I began therapy through Headway in March 2025, thinking everything was sorted with my insurance. But after five sessions, I found out I was actually out-of-network since January, which was pretty surprising. I had checked with my insurance twice before diving into therapy, so you can imagine the shock when I got the bill. Headway admitted the mistake but didn’t refund the extra payments I made. It’s frustrating when your therapy gets tangled up in billing issues, especially when you’ve done your homework. And without live support, sorting things out becomes even harder. If you're using Headway, double-check everything—even if you think you're in the clear—because insurance stuff can change without you knowing. It was a rough experience for me.

It's frustrating when you're just trying to sort things out and keep hitting walls. If your therapist uses Headway for billing, I'd advise you to reconsider. The company's approach seems to be all about delay and deflect, rather than genuinely resolving issues. I usually prefer working out issues directly and love leaving positive feedback when deserved, but Headway's service was disappointing. Frustrating experience

I recently had a frustrating experience with Headway that left me feeling deceived and out of pocket. When their system for verifying insurance benefits went down, they assured clients that they wouldn't charge any cancellation fees. But guess what? I ended up with a $2,900 bill for cancellations due to their own technical mishap. It just feels wrong and unethical. I stuck to my end, attending scheduled appointments and only canceling when Headway's system failed. Yet, they still charged me. It's like they promised one thing and did the opposite. If you're using Headway, please keep an eye on your billing and consider reaching out to relevant authorities if you face similar issues. This kind of practice shouldn't go unnoticed.

In 2022, I encountered billing issues

In 2022, I encountered billing issues with Headway, as they miscalculated my co-pay for counseling sessions, resulting in a $1200 loss for them. Despite my switch to cash payments, contacting customer service was challenging, with limited responsiveness. Recently, after resuming services with Headway through an in-network insurance plan, they again miscalculated my co-pay, claiming $85 owed per session. Despite inquiries and escalations, the billing problem persists, causing frustration, financial strain, and even session cancellations. Headway's ongoing incompetence in handling insurance matters hinders mental health access and underscores the need for a more efficient customer service and billing department.

I thought I'd get refunded the overcharge, but it’s been over two months, and Headway still hasn’t submitted any of my claims. I tried reaching out multiple times, but they don’t have a call center—you can only submit online tickets. Dealing with this company is like trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces. They promise the world but fall short, especially when it comes to credentialing, which is supposed to be their bread and butter. It's a constant uphill battle—missteps in applications, poor communication, and unhelpful responses. You end up doing their work, like you're part of their team without the paycheck. It's beyond frustrating. If there were other affordable choices for credentialing, I'd jump ship in a heartbeat.
