Have you ever felt like you're being hit with hidden fees left and right?

Have you ever felt like you're being hit with hidden fees left and right? Imagine: You book a room with HousingAnywhere, pay the admin fee, and think you're set. But wait—surprise! They redirect you to Habyt to sign the contract, where they hit you with yet another fee! Seriously? Why didn't they mention this upfront? I could have saved so much hassle and money by booking directly with Habyt. Don't fall into the same trap I did. Before you book your next room, read this and save yourself from unnecessary fees and headaches.

Prepare to be shocked!

Prepare to be shocked! Picture this: I booked a room in Lisbon, paid the monthly rent plus a hefty fee—$750 + $300. All seemed fine until the landlord dropped another bomb: a $770 deposit, including a mysterious $20 fee. Outrageous, right? To top it off, Housing Anywhere only refunded part of my deposit, claiming the $20 was non-refundable. What a rip-off! Don't fall into the same trap. Stay informed and avoid unnecessary charges. Read on to discover how you can protect your wallet!

The platform offers a degree of customer

The platform offers a degree of customer safety when booking apartments sight-unseen. However, there are notable gaps in this protection. Requiring upfront payment of the first month's rent and fees to express interest in multiple places seems unbalanced. The system appears skewed in favor of landlords, especially when they demand a two-month deposit upfront, potentially circumventing the 48-hour safeguard. This raises concerns about the platform's efficacy in safeguarding tenants' interests during the application process.

Is the stronation clause legal
Edited

I consider HousingAnywhere's fine print trap regarding "strict notice periods" to be illegal, immoral and an unacceptable method. If I book an apartment as a student and my employment contract is terminated at short notice by my employer, Housing keeps the full rent amount. The tenant, on the other hand, can sublet the apartment and collect double the rent? Example: Tenant 1 rents 6 weeks before moving in in September 2024, gives notice 3 weeks before moving in due to work. Has paid 800 euros, receives no refund. Tenant 2 then rents the same apartment for September 2024, gives notice 2 weeks before moving in due to work. Paid 800 Euro , receives no refund. Tenant 3 then rents the same apartment for September 2024 and moves in. HousingAnywhere collects, including a 250 Euro fee for each tenant, 2100 Euro FOR NOTHING, How can it be that something like this is valid in Europe (EU)? I am paying for a service that is not provided. In my opinion, this is theft. Why has nobody reported this to the Dutch authorities? Why has no one informed the consumer organization? And that there is still no control, for example by the consumer organization. I, for one, am going to take action! I will file a complaint and demand my money back on the basis of an illegal contract.

Caution! Exercise caution when dealing

Caution! Exercise caution when dealing with this company. I found myself in a residence that did not match the description provided. It's not advisable to book, especially if you have to undertake long journeys, only to end up in a place that doesn't feel like home. Despite presenting substantial evidence, they refused to refund my money. Upon reviewing their Terms and Conditions, I discovered that the criteria for assessing discrepancies, as outlined in Article 15.16.2.4, are subjective and determined by the company. Even with clear evidence, they exercise their own discretion on what qualifies as "sufficient." Unless legal action is taken, you might find yourself being deceived by them. While the customer service appears polite, their primary interest seems to be retaining the initial payment, with little regard for the evidence provided. A law enforcement officer suggested contacting them immediately when inside the property, as their on-the-spot verification holds more weight. This might offer a slim hope for a potential full refund, but, unfortunately, I'm now left without money and accommodation at the start of the semester. It's advisable to steer clear of this company, as they don't seem to operate with integrity.

The worst unpleasant experience

If you're considering using HousingAnywhere, think twice. My experience with them has been extremely disappointing. I informed my landlord of a cancellation more than 50 days in advance—well before the contract even started—and both HousingAnywhere and the landlord refused to issue a refund. Their customer service has been completely unhelpful, showing no regard for the rights or concerns of tenants. Despite multiple attempts to resolve the issue and providing ample notice for the room to be relisted, HousingAnywhere has sided with the landlord, leaving me with no support and a significant financial loss. It's clear that HousingAnywhere prioritizes its advertisers (Laura) over the rights of tenants, offering little to no protection in cases like mine. If you value fair treatment and responsive customer support, I strongly advise against using HousingAnywhere. Their policies are rigid, and their lack of empathy for customers is beyond frustrating. I am still waiting for the refund of my money.

My experience with this booking

My experience with this booking company was incredibly disappointing. They failed to properly manage and vet their properties, which led to numerous problems. Communication with the landlord was terrible, showing a lack of professionalism and care. Students, who are already vulnerable, were treated unfairly, with important information being kept from them and entries into their rooms happening without warning. Requests for help were often ignored, and basic needs weren't always met. Serious issues like pests were ignored, putting residents in danger. In emergencies, there was no support, leaving residents feeling abandoned. Moving out was chaotic, and the landlord only responded when threatened legally. Getting our deposit back was confusing and stressful. Overall, this company's performance was very poor. They didn't address important issues and lacked professionalism. I wouldn't recommend renting from them at all.

It is a great spot in the heart of the city

It is a great spot in the heart of the city, making it easy to get to public transport, banks, and stores. The apartment is nicely decorated and includes everything needed for a longer stay. The landlord is nice and quick to respond to any issues or questions. They speak very good English and are supportive both while moving in and during your time there. There is a cleaning service option that has been really helpful when things get busy. The flat mates are very nice young, and quite tidy. This place has been the best home I have lived in; the viewing and move-in process has been really smooth and quick. The neighbors are mostly quiet and a bit friendly. I would suggest anyone that reads my review to at least check out the apartment.

HousingAnywhere's job seems to be

HousingAnywhere's job seems to be more about safeguarding their "advertisers" rather than looking out for guests like us. That's a significant aspect. The landlord took our security deposit without justification, constantly argued with us, even pushed us to leave early during the holidays. And now, when we inquire about the money she supposedly wired but never arrived, she's blocked us on WhatsApp. Dealing with her has been a nightmare. If you enjoy having your money taken or being talked down to by someone who loves to argue, then this is the spot for you! Otherwise, steer clear of this individual and their so-called "business". While HousingAnywhere might have some decent hosts, don't expect them to have your back if you're a guest.

HousingAnywhere made a solid start in the renting market for me.

HousingAnywhere made a solid start in the renting market for me. As an Erasmus student, the only thing I knew about the housing scene in Dublin was that there was a big issue with scammers. I didn't encounter that problem on this website. Everything seemed genuine, and the communication with the house owner went smoothly. One thing I must point out is that the photos on the website only somewhat reflected the living situation in my new home. Most of the pictures were a bit outdated and didn’t show the current state completely. But it was all still quite acceptable. I had a very good experience with my landlady, Marisela.

I booked an apartment via HousingAnywhere and found

I booked an apartment via HousingAnywhere and found their booking process very easy and fast. From browsing to booking, each step was clear and simple. The website is easy to use, and the apartment listings have detailed info that helped me pick the right place. The customer service team was very responsive and helpful. They answered all my questions and gave extra details about the local area, which made my move to a new city much easier. The room was just as shown in the listing, clean and well-kept, making move-in quick. The payment process felt safe, and I got all the needed receipts and agreements on time.

The most unpleasant experience

Around ten days ago, I booked a room through HousingAnywhere for December 1st. However, a few days later, I encountered some issues and requested to cancel the reservation. Unfortunately, HousingAnywhere has refused to refund my payment of approximately 1000 euros. Despite notifying them of the cancellation more than 50 days in advance, they have shown no willingness to return my money. I am deeply disappointed with their lack of regard for customers and tenants, as they seem to be more focused on profiting at the expense of others. I strongly believe they are obligated to refund my payment.

The payment process was smooth

The payment process was smooth and secure, but I had reservations. If a move-in date is set by the company for January 2nd, and I initiate the booking on January 4th, the 48-hour payment delay means the advertiser receives the funds before my check-in. This leaves room for potential fraud. It would be wise to separate the tenant's move-in date from the advertiser's platform-set date, allowing users to report deceptive activities and ensuring a fair process.

I'm pleased with Housing

I'm pleased with Housing Anywhere's services. Upon arrival, my room was in excellent condition, ensuring a comfortable stay. The spacious kitchen provided nearly all necessities, and timely, accurate cleaning services were a highlight. I appreciate the prompt responses to my inquiries within two days. My only suggestion would be the inclusion of a microwave in the kitchen for added convenience. Overall, a positive experience with Housing Anywhere.

Booking through Housing Anywhere was really easy,

Booking through Housing Anywhere was really easy, thanks to Kristine and Stephanie! They were so fast in handling my booking and quickly answered all my questions and doubts. The platform is simple to use and trustworthy. Highly recommended! It also saved me from a lot of stress looking for a room in Berlin, here it was so fast, because normally I've heard of people having a hard time finding a place to live, especially with anmeldung included.

Terrible time in Berlin

Terrible time in Berlin Housinganywhere feels more like a money grab. Their main goal seems to be just to take your deposit and nothing else. I faced issues getting my deposit back and got zero help from Housinganywhere. Moreover, my time in Berlin with MP GmbH (Samos Sanchez) was a disaster. They offer only 6-month contracts, and after that, they hike up the monthly price. They fix problems from long ago, and you end up paying for it.

I am happy with Patrizio and his team! They ensure you feel comfortable throughout the process, offering great care and security. The offer is exactly what you receive. Fast replies and helpful advice with any concerns or questions. As a student from abroad, I had some questions about the procedures, but Patrizio was always ready to help and clarify everything. Without a doubt, I would book with him again!

HOUSING ANYWHERE IS A SCAM

Rented a room for my daughter in Barcelona for four months. Contrary to their description on their platform the room has no natural light, no security and the surface is 5 sq. meters smaller than advertised. Reached them, namely their boss, Jim Bijwaard, who took no action. Only action this SOB took was to take my money, including a 1000 euro security fee. FOR YOUR SAKE stay away from this platform.

We stayed in this nice apartment for two months during our trip to Prague and had a great stay. The apartment was tidy, cozy, and had all we needed. It’s in the city center and near main sights and public transport. The host was very friendly and always ready to help with any queries. The overall vibe made us feel just like home. We highly recomend this place to anyone coming to Prague!

Overall, it was a good experence.

Overall, it was a good experence. Once you find the place that you feel is ideal for you, then it's just a matter of following some simple steps and paying the necessary costs. I feel clear communication goes a long way to ensuring that everyone is on the same page moving forward. There will be some hiccups along the way but again... communication is key.

The site's safety policy is well done

The site's safety policy is well done, making it easy to use. It offers helpful tips to avoid scams. However, they should cover all initial expenses, not just the first rent, to protect tenants better. This could set them apart from other providers. If a place turns out to be a scam, tenants could lose their deposit, which is a significant risk.

The apartment is quite nice—big enough

The apartment is quite nice—big enough for 4 people to stay without any trouble, with 2 decent-sized bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The kitchen has all the tools you need and has good room for cooking. The area around is calm and relaxing, but still near to popular places. The check-in was easy, and I'm glad I picked this place for a year.

Mafia

I have been scammed by this app. And by an agent who infiltrated their app. The thieves have more cybersecurity than the IT people of this company. I was told that the keys were delivered by HousingAnywhere and no one answers neither the owner nor the company. They are a bunch of scammers do not fall into the same as so many of us.

Housing Anywhere is a solid service for

Housing Anywhere is a solid service for finding accommodation. However, for extended stays, it has its downsides, as landlords can cancel bookings without any compensation. I would still suggest using it. One improvement could be allowing users to continue replying to open conversations after their subscription ends.

Booking accommodation here is easy-peasy

Booking accommodation here is easy-peasy, super simple, and fast. The staff is nice, they remind you of deals and answer questions. Paying is easy too. Lots of options with bills and furniture. Just too many ads for short-term places, finding a long-term one is a bit hard. If they fix that, it'll be perfect.

Feeling at home in a cozy place with a present

Feeling at home in a cozy place with a present landlord is what you get here. If it weren't for personal reasons, I'd still be there. The location is great, you can reach anywhere in Düsseldorf quickly, and I miss the nearby supermarket open 7 days a week. I recommend this place and the owners' treatment.

Had a good time at Akis apt for 2 months. The place has a pleasant vibe, plenty of fresh air, and is tidy and basic. The neighborhood is nice and it's simple to get to the city center. The host is very helpful and available anytime. He even added another AC to the bedroom since this summer is really hot.

I used dis website twise to find accommodation in two countries. I was in both cases able to find a room relatively quickly, de website has plenty of choices available and the booking process is easy and clear. I was able in both cases to contact de landlord and ask for information before booking.
